Thinger.io is a platform to connect devices to the Internet and build on top of them: read sensors, control actuators, store time series, show dashboards and trigger integrations. You use it from a web console, a REST API, a command-line tool or an AI agent.
Who it is for
- Makers and developers who want a board online in minutes.
- Companies that build connected products and need fleets, white-label consoles and their own instance.
- Integrators who connect existing equipment over MQTT, HTTP or LPWAN networks.
How devices connect
- IOTMP: the protocol of the Thinger.io device libraries for Arduino, ESP-IDF, Zephyr and Linux. The device keeps one secure connection open, so the platform can read and call its device resources at any time.
- MQTT: for devices and gateways that already publish to a broker.
- HTTP: for devices and services that send data from time to time, including LoRaWAN and Sigfox network servers.
See Connect a device to choose.
What you can do with the data
- Store it in Data Buckets and show it on dashboards.
- React to it with alarms and endpoints that call other services.
- Manage fleets with products, and share resources with projects.
- Extend the instance with plugins.
- Automate everything through the REST API, the CLI or an AI agent. To work with your account from Claude, VS Code or Cursor, see Connect an AI agent.
Where it runs
Start with a free Cloud account at console.thinger.io, whose server is iot.thinger.io. Companies use a private instance with their own domain. See Deployment and Plans and limits.
Open source
The client side is open source under the MIT license: the Arduino library, the thinger CLI, the Dashboard SDK and the plugins. Browse every repository at github.com/thinger-io. The server is not open source.
