A Thinger.io instance is one server with its console, REST API, device connections and users. You can use the shared free Cloud account, subscribe to a private instance that Thinger.io hosts for you, or run the server on your own infrastructure with an on-premise license.
Thinger.io Cloud
Thinger.io runs the server and keeps it up to date.
- Free Cloud account: a shared server at
iot.thinger.ioto learn and prototype. It does not include plugins or the Administration features. - Private instance (Small, Medium and Large plans): a server only for you, with its own hostname, its own users and the Administration menu. You sign up on the pricing page, and the instance is ready a few minutes later.
See Thinger.io Cloud.
On-premise
The same server runs on your own machines, as Docker containers installed with Docker Compose. You keep the data in your network and take care of the machine, the backups and the updates of the server.
Today, Thinger.io grants on-premise licenses to research centers and educational institutions. A 100% open-source Thinger.io server, which anyone will be able to run on their own infrastructure, is coming soon.
